2012 The Bugatti offers Veyron buyers the chance to customize the 1,001HP-strong model to their exact specifications. To demonstrate the endless customization possibilities to its Asian clientele, Bugatti displayed a pair of special Veyrons at this week’s Auto Shanghai 2011.

Bugatti still doesn’t think that the Veyron is fast enough. After coming up with the Super Sport version of the car a few months back, the VW group owned company is now working on the next generation version of the car. The company has set a top speed target of 270mph for itself. The Current Veyron is known to be good for 253mph.The Super Sport version on the other hand has done an average run of 431.072 km/h (267.856 mph) in front of Guiness record officials.

Bugatti loses money on every car it makes owing to its technological excess. But the cash rich VW group is the last company in the world to bother about budgets if they could lay claim on being the manufacturers of the world’s fastest car. The company wants to push the envelope further.

According to Auto Express, the company would want the next version to shatter the perception of what a production car can do. The new warp-speed Bugatti Veyron is expected to make an appearance sometime in 2013.

While looking for some post-holiday/New Year steals, I started thinking about what kind of deals I can find in the realm of motorized transportation.  For the motorcycle enthusiast, the off-season means gear and bikes are at a yearly low.  For the (very) affluent yet tight budgeted millionaire...

That's right!  The Bugatti Veyron is a hell of a deal.  $1.7 million is a bargain for the finest piece of automotive engineering... ever!

Now, you may be thinking,"Hold on!  This is a blog about post-holiday deals and $1.7 million is the price of this car all the time."  Well, you are a savvy reader, my friend.  Everyone knows that buying a new car means having to deal with first year depreciation.  Luckily someone has already done that with this particular Veyron.  Available on Ebay at the low low price of $879,980 is this 2008 model in Jonesboro, Arkansas.  With less than 7,000 miles on the odometer and at half the price of new, the lucky new owner can pick this beauty up and have money left over for a couple cases of Dom Perignon to toast his new purchase as well as the new year.

Not just a super car that carries on the name of racing driver Pierre Veyron, who, while racing for the original Bugatti car manufacturer, won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1939, Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is the second fastest car in the world and the most powerful, it can easily pass as a super hero`s car like Batman. It has the fastest acceleration speed, reaching 60 mph in 2.6 seconds.

Endowed with W16 engine-16 cylinders in 4 banks of 4 cylinders fed by four turbochargers, a dual-clutch DSG computer-controlled manual transmission, the Veyron has a length is 4462 mm (175.8 in) a wide of 1998 mm (78.7 in) and hight of 1206 mm (47.5 in). Counting a sum of 10 radiators, for the engine cooling system, for transmission oil, a heat exchanger for the air to liquid intercoolers, for engine oil etc., the car has a power to weight ratio of 529 bhp/tonne.

If we talk about performance we are dazzled by this supercars power to reach 200 and 300 km/h (124 and 186 mph) in 7.3 and respectively 16.7 seconds, wining for herself the name of the quickest-accelerating production car in history. If we count the fact that the top speed of Bugatti Veyron is 253.2 miles per hour (407.5 km/h), a speed limited electronically to prevent tire damage (it can run even faster) we can understand why this spectacular car must consume 40.4 L/100 km (4.82 mpg) when it`s running at top speed and in city driving 24.1 L/100 km.

A model drove by superstars like Tom Cruise, couldn`t name itself cheap, rising the Bugatti Veyron at least of $1,700,000, a price that measures it`s quality. Many new designs has been released since 2006, the color might have changed, but the speed and power remain the same.

I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only enthusiast who saves old magazines.  While cleaning out some old junk, I came across the January 2000 edition of Road & Track.  The cover story is 100 Best Cars of 100 Years.  I assume this is like the Wikipedia of its day to an impressionable fourteen year old. Having said that, the most striking thing about the issue is the Ampersand column which has a short blurb about the Bugatti Veyron Concept.

Now, we all know that the Bugatti Veyron in production form sports a 8.0 liter quad-turbo W16 which is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.  The 1001 horsepower from that massive power plant gets to the ground through all four contact patches.  This allows for some tenacious grip and a 0-60 time of 2.5 seconds.  However, this was not the original vision for the mightiest of supercars.

Having pictures of both the production car and the concept for comparison shows that the production car seems to have gone through the gestation period pretty much intact.  Repeated reports of crashed test mules with bad aerodynamics tell a different story though.  Minute details like a more upright grill and a more bulbous front end seem to be the minor changes.  However,without the aid of a wind tunnel and an aerodynamicist, I'd be hard-pressed to tell any other differences.

Taking a peak under the hood would reveal a major difference.  The Volkswagen group had originally planned on using a 6.3 liter W18 for motivation.  This sounds like an extraordinary bit of engineering.  That is, until that 20/20 hindsight thing kicks in.  That W18 would push out around 555 horsepower.  This doesn't sound like much now considering the 6.3 liter V8 from the boys over at AMG develops 518 horsepower and a spleen-rupturing amount of torque which can be had at a tenth of the price of the Veyron.  It can be assumed that the Vee-dub planners saw the writing on the wall when the Lamborghini Murcielago (also under the VW umbrella) came out in 2001 with a 572 horsepower 6.2 liter V12.

It's refreshing to see that concept cars can make it to production with little change to the jaw-dropping sheet metal that originally made us wade through the car show crowds.  In addition, the ability to be fluid with engineering ideas and execution has allowed the Veyron to rewrite every performance record.  I hope my grandchildren will have the same kind of wonder that made me keep that issue of Road & Track because they'll probably be reading about the Veyron in that January 3000 issue of the 100 Best Cars of 100 Years.

The car is named after French racing driver Pierre Veyron, who won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1939 while racing for the original Bugatti company. It was named "Car Of The Decade" (2000-2009) by the BBC television programme Top Gear.

A number of special variants have produced, including two targa tops.

The Veyron features an 8.0 litre W16 engine with sixteen cylinders in two banks of eight, equivalent to two narrow-angle V8 engines mated in a "W" configuration. Each cylinder has four valves for a total of sixty four, but the narrow staggered eight configuration allows two overhead camshafts to drive two banks of cylinders so only four camshafts are needed. The engine is fed by four turbochargers and displaces 7,993 cubic centimetres (487.8 cu in), with a square 86 mm by 86 mm (3.4 in × 3.4 in) bore and stroke.
