An eventful race for the MERCEDES GP PETRONAS team yesterday at the Istanbul Park saw Nico and Michael finish the 2011 Turkish Formula 1 Grand Prix in fifth and twelfth positions. After a quick start, during which he was able to get past RBR's Mark Webber and self-confidence was building on, Rosberg encountered problems with tyre wear-out and began losing important places. A pit strategy with four stops meant the German was able to conserve his fifth position until the chequered flag announced the end of the race. After a good start, Michael was involved in a fight with LRGP's Vitaly Petrov and was forced to box earlier than expected. This led to a series of mishappenings for the German driver, which prevented him from fighting for a better position. Schumacher struggled with pace throughout the entire run and, in the end, came home on an undesirable P12.
